Unbowed Celtic's manager insists he is not worried about being fired but Celtic fans show anger following defeat.

Wilfried Nancy declared he did not fear dismissal, asserting, “The team is extremely close to a turnaround,” despite edging perilously close to being fired with a convincing setback against Rangers.

Another Meltdown Results in Derby Defeat

Celtic were ahead the visitors at half-time but a disastrous second period allowed the Gers to pull level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. The former MLS manager, who was appointed from Columbus Crew, has now been in charge for six setbacks in his last eight games.

“There is unity with the board,” stated the manager.

Questioned about whether he was concerned, the 48-year-old said: “It’s not on my mind. My focus is on finding ways to help my team to be good on the fine details.

Protest Outside Parkhead

Hundreds of supporters made their feelings clear – towards the hierarchy – by protesting outside the stadium. Club directors are reportedly likely to bring back Martin O’Neill, who steered the club during a temporary stint last year, if the Frenchman were sacked.

“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. So this is the situation for the moment. Yet by saying this is the reality, I am not saying that I am pessimistic. No. My point is the turnaround is near, imminently close to change the narrative.”

“Really, Really Close”

The coach continues to cling to the fact the side can perform strongly for one half at a time. Indeed, but for poor finishing they might have been more than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit except the fact that we missed our chances,” he said. “I know that we lost, but I have also to be objective.

“The performance we had at stages was exceptionally high. That happened. I wouldn't say that if it was not the case. That is the reason, regarding outcomes, I noted we've seen this before. For that reason I feel we are really close to getting it right. Right now: the fine margins.”

“There were a lot of encouraging signs that we did, like today again. The issue now comes down to performing for 90 minutes. My message would not be if I didn't believe it. That’s why I am a big believer we will manage to fix this.”

Opposition Reaction Response

Danny Röhl played down talk of a serious challenge despite what seemed like a huge result. “We take it game by game, and we can really build up something here,” he said. “The belief in the squad is excellent.”
